What is thunderstorm asthma? How does it relate to pollen allergy?
CLEVELAND, Ohio - Rainy days typically mean relief from normal seasonal allergies as big drops clear out the atmosphere of particles. But thunderstorms may make those with an asthma response to outdoor pollen allergies worse, not better.

Almost one in five Northland children have asthma
Nossie Lutske knows how serious asthma can be.
Her daughter Zarika was just 4-months-old when she developed croup and ended up in hospital. Doctors told her it was a bronchial infection.
Over the next two months she was taken to hospital three more times, each time "wheezing like mad".
The fourth time, she "turned blue" and was rushed to the intensive care unit. It was after this Mrs Lutske demanded to see a specialist, who diagnosed asthma.
