World Asthma Day: More Than 5% Of the Total Number Of Asthmatics Worldwide Reside In India, It’s Time We Take Note
The World Health Organisation (WHO) recently reported that out of the 300 million people that suffer worldwide from asthma around 15-20 million asthmatics come from India alone!
Around 98% of cities in low-and-middle-income countries, including Indian cities, with over 1,00,000 are not meeting the norms set out by WHO, and this number has nearly doubled to 3,000 in 103 countries since 2014, reported DNA India.....

High rates of asthma baffle academics, amid cries for Kiwis to ditch 'cavalier' attitude
A "cavalier" attitude towards asthma is putting children at risk, says a health expert, on the back of data revealing one in seven Kiwi kids has the illness.
Through the central North Island, the disease has an even firmer hold, according to a recent report by researchers from Otago University in Wellington that has baffled academics.
Close to one in four Whanganui children are medicated for asthma, one in five in Gisborne, Taranaki and Wairarapa, and one in every six in the Hutt Valley.....

Thunderstorms Can Trigger Asthma Flares, Study Finds
MONDAY, May 1, 2017 (HealthDay News) -- Rain often helps people with allergies or allergic asthma by bringing pollen to the ground. But a new study says that's not necessarily the case with thunderstorms, which may actually trigger asthma outbreaks.
For example, a 2016 thunderstorm asthma outbreak in Australia occurred when high grass pollen concentrations were dispersed by strong winds. This resulted in multiple deaths and a surge of people seeking medical help for breathing problems.....
