Despite often being considered a stereotype, it is statistically true that women more often seek out medical care than men do. A recent study published in the Annals of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology revealed that women suffering from acute asthma are treated in emergency rooms 60 percent more often than men. The study is from the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology (ACAAI) and was focused on sex differences between patients and the risk of hospitalization in 2,000 emergency department patients suffering of acute asthma.....

New law lets Ontario students carry asthma inhalers

“Ryan’s Law” was named for Ryan Gibbons, who died from an asthma attack during recess in 2012. His inhaler was in the school office.
There’s good news for parents of asthmatic children in Ontario. Students in the province now have a legal right to carry their inhaler medication on them after a new law passed on April 30. Previously, it was up to school boards or the schools themselves to decide if students could carry inhalers or if the medication had to be kept with a teacher or in the school office.....
