Despite a strong suspected link between genetics and asthma, commonly found genetic mutations account for only a small part of the risk for developing the disease – a problem known as missing heritability.

Study: Many seniors with asthma, COPD still smoke
More than 40 percent of older adults who experience difficulty breathing because of asthma or COPD continue to smoke, despite the negative effects that smoking has on their health, according to a recent study.
Led by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the research involved data from the U.S. National Health and Nutrition Survey over a five-year period. Researchers found that 46.2 percent of adults aged 40 to 79 with lung obstruction currently smoke cigarettes.....

His face, especially the areas around his eyes, was red, scaly, and dry; his neck was thick and extremely rough and scaly with a lot of scratch marks on it. The areas in front of his elbows and the back of his knees where also thickened with linear lines and excoriations (tiny spots of removed skin, sometimes with bleeding).
