If you have asthma, keeping an emergency inhaler and other treatments on hand can help quickly relieve symptoms so you can breathe easier. But are there certain foods that you can eat to lessen the severity of asthma symptoms?
There is evidence that foods containing certain compounds may lower rates of asthma. More Than One-Third of Patients Hospitalized for Asthma Exacerbations are Smokers

To determine the prevalence of cigarette smoking in US adults hospitalized for asthma, and to learn more about how many of them received in-patient smoking cessation intervention, researchers at Harvard University and Massachusetts General Hospital analyzed the results of a previous multicenter observational study. That study included 597 U.S. adults admitted to the hospital for an asthma exacerbation in 2012 or 2013. The researchers published the results of their secondary analysis in the July/August issue of Allergy and Asthma Proceedings.....

Updated national guidance launched to help reduce asthma attacks and save lives

An important update to national guidance on the management of asthma is launched today (Wednesday 21 September 2016) with a major focus on supporting health professionals to make accurate diagnoses and provide effective treatments to control asthma and prevent life-threatening asthma attacks.

Diagnosing asthma
The guideline, produced jointly by the British Thoracic Society (BTS) and the Scottish Intercollegiate Guideline Network (SIGN) emphasises that there is still no single test that can definitively diagnose asthma and an individual’s asthma status can change over time.....
