Pocket-sized device to warn of asthma attacks

WASHINGTON (TIP): Researchers have developed a pocket-sized device that plugs into a smartphone and can detect early warning signs of asthma attacks.
The device, Wing, is a sensor that works with a companion app to accurately measure two important lung functions: FEV1 (how much air you can exhale in one second) and Peak Flow (how fast you can exhale).....

Exercise Aids Some Outcomes in Asthma
- Symptoms, medication use, waist size all improve


MONTREAL -- A supervised aerobic exercise program for asthmatic adults led to significant reductions in symptoms, medication use, waist circumference, and depression versus usual care, a small, randomized trial showed.
The significant improvements in the exercise group emerged after 3 months. Spirometry outcomes and levels of inflammatory markers in sputum samples did not differ significantly between treatment groups.....
