Asthma training required for all 22,000 Minn. high school coaches
EDINA, Minn. – Efforts to prevent concussions are well known in high school sports.
But for the first time, all Minnesota high school coaches must be trained to detect another, often quieter, problem: asthma.
Edina girls soccer coach Katie Aafedt recently completed the new asthma response training requirement.

FDA Approves Teva’s QVAR RediHaler Asthma Maintenance Inhaler
Israel’s Teva Pharmaceutical Industries has won U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval for its QVAR RediHaler breath-actuated inhaler for maintenance treatment of asthma as a prophylactic therapy in patients 4 years of age and older.
The company expects its prescription-only inhalation aerosol to be commercially available in 40 mcg and 80 mcg strengths to asthma patients by early 2018.
QVAR RediHaler contains the same active drug ingredient — beclomethasone dipropionate HFA — found in QVAR Inhalation Aerosol, with a different mode of delivery, and is designed to be used without shaking or priming.....

These two lung diseases killed 3.6 million in 2015: India among most-COPD affected countries in world
New Delhi: A new study has found that about 3.6 million people have died due to the two most common chronic lung diseases in 2015.
According to the study, in 2015, about 3.2 million people worldwide succumbed to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) - caused mainly by smoking and pollution - while 400,000 people died from asthma.
COPD is a group of lung conditions, including emphysema, bronchitis, refractory (non-reversible) asthma, and some forms of bronchiectasis. This disease is characterised by increasing breathlessness.....
