BRMC offers procedure to decrease symptoms of asthma, improve quality of life
Two Baxter Regional Medical Center pulmonologists — Dr. Rebecca Martin and Dr. Brian Malte — are providing a fairly new procedure, bronchial thermoplasty, to diminish the symptoms of asthma patients while also improving their quality of life.
Bronchial thermoplasty is a procedure for severe, persistent asthma. Severe and persistent asthma, the last stage of the disease, is considered a health situation in which a health provider has given every medicine to a patient but still cannot control the illness.
The patients would undergo the three-month procedure in three stages.....

Siblings die minutes apart after suffering apparent asthma attacks
An asthmatic 2-year-old girl and her 3-year-old brother died minutes apart Monday after they were found gasping for air in their Bronx home — and police sources said both tots had “marks” on their necks.
The children’s deaths are now being investigated by police as well as city child-welfare workers given the “red flags,” sources told The Post.
The family has no history with the city’s Administration for Children’s Services, according to an agency source. A police source added that the neck marks could have been a result of CPR.....
