Bronchiectasis is common among patients with severe uncontrolled asthma and might even make their asthma worse, concludes a study by the Sotiria Chest Diseases Hospital in Athens, Greece.
In fact, the type of inflammation seen in patients with both asthma and bronchiectasis might render them insensitive to typical asthma treatment, and testing bronchiectasis-type antibiotics in this group of patients might be a better approach, researchers suggested.

New research shows that individuals with a history of asthma from childhood are at a greater risk of developing shortness of breath, chest pain, fainting and eventually heart failure in adulthood.

The researchers found that the common respiratory disease can lead to thickening in the left ventricle - one of the four chambers of the heart responsible for pumping oxygenated blood to tissues all over the body - in a condition known as left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH), causing the heart muscle to lose elasticity and eventually fail to pump.....

New Haven summer camp helps kids with asthma
NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH)– Kids with asthma can find it hard to keep up with all the activities of a summer camp. That why one camp in New Haven is helping kids with asthma and other health issues have fun this summer.
When 9 year-old Tradiq Scurry is running around and playing with other kids, he sometimes feels shot of breath. What does he do? “I go take my inhaler,” Scurry said.
