Fall Mold May Trigger Asthma Attacks
Many people think of allergies and asthma as two completely different diseases. In Kentucky, up to 4 percent of the population has nasal allergies, and 8 percent of the population has asthma. However, allergies are one common trigger for asthma, and often a common thread for the development of asthma. Certain allergens, such as cat dander, dust mite, and grass pollen, have been shown to be associated with the development of asthma in children. But the fall season can be harsh on asthmatics too.....

Boy whose brother died from asthma attack to set off Trafford Centre's fireworks
When little Archie Brown presses the button to set off the Trafford Centre fireworks this Sunday, he'll be sending them up to his 'superhero' brother in the sky.
Four-year-old Archie lost his older brother Isaac last summer when the 10-year-old suffered an unexpected asthma attack.
He was mildly asthmatic when he was younger, but it was thought the condition had cleared up and it was the first attack he had ever suffered.....

Boy, 12, Dies After School Takes His Asthma Inhaler
“I received many a phone call stating Ryan had taken an inhaler to school and they found it in his bag and would like me to come pick it up because he wasn’t even allowed to bring it home with him,” Ryan’s mom (pictured) told Canada’s national TV network, the CBC. “There’s supposed to be one in the office and that’s the only one he can have. I didn’t understand why.”
Indeed, it is difficult to understand why. What possible reason could a school have for this bizarre anti-inhaler policy? In the United States, all 50 states have already passed laws permitting children to carry their inhalers in school — but even some American schools still don’t allow it.....
