Blacks face an uphill battle with asthma. Access to quality healthcare is often non-existent or inconsistent, philosophical differences in treating asthma amongst physicians and sub-par housing/work conditions that promote allergens all contribute to the prevalence of asthma.....

Helping asthma patients breathe easier

Rochester, N.Y. - Y'sland Miller-Seymore was just a year old when she was diagnosed with asthma.
She was in and out of the hospital and suffered asthma attacks.
It was scary for the now ten-year-old and her mom, Keisha Seymore.
But now both breathe a lot easier. Y'sland is using new medicine to treat her asthma and she has a different inhaler.....

Walk for awareness at UNC Charlotte


On May 21 (registration opens at 8 a.m.; the walk starts at 9 a.m.) the coalition is hosting the inaugural Community Asthma Walk at UNC Charlotte’s Hauser Alumni Pavilion.
“May is Asthma Awareness Month,” Coalition board member Melissa Calvert said. “The purpose of the walk is to celebrate Asthma Awareness Month and raise awareness, care, and support for those affected by asthma in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Community”.....
