My cat coughs like she is trying to bring up a hairball, but then nothing comes up. Her energy is pretty good most of the time, but sometimes I notice she pants after she runs around.
It sounds like your cat may have something more serious than a hairball issue. It is not normal for cats to pant like dogs when they are hot or overly excited. I am concerned that your cat may have a lung or heart problem that is causing these symptoms. Coughing and trouble breathing should definitely be evaluated by your veterinarian.....
