THE much loved home wood burners are contributing towards air pollution that is killing around 40,000 people per year.
Diseases such as asthma, cancer and diabetes have all been linked to illnesses invoked by the harmful pollution that is released from the burners.
The health impacts of pollutants found outside the home such as those from vehicle exhausts, are widely known to cause at least 40,000 early deaths a year in the UK.....

UK asthma patients can participate in global study, using iPhones

UK asthma patients can participate in a global medical research while monitoring their health and symptoms using an iPhone app.
The app, which uses Apple's ResearchKit platform, is designed to help researchers explore personalised treatments for asthma patients. Called Asthma Health, it lets asthma patients monitor and understand their health condition, as well as follow their treatment plans.....

A simple calculation using routine blood test results can identify eosinophilic asthma patients

Complete blood count (CBC) with differential, a standard test that enumerates different types of white cells in peripheral blood, is often performed during routine patient visits in clinics and hospitals.
