Scientists unveil 'radical' new asthma treatment

Scientists unveiled a "radical" approach that could revolutionise asthma treatment, using subtle changes in diet to help keep the respiratory disease under control.
The research, described as a "world first", was presented for the first time at the annual meeting of the Thoracic Society for Australia and New Zealand.
"This is the first time anyone has looked at the impact of altering the gut microbiome on asthma control in humans," said the society's president Professor Peter Gibson.....

Huge support for young girl rushed to hospital after severe asthma attack
The year 8 pupil was airlifted to hospital from Westborough High School in Dewsbury


Dozens of well-wishers have spoken in support of a young schoolgirl who was rushed to hospital by air ambulance after suffering a suspected asthma attack.
The Year 8 pupil was airlifted from Westborough High School in Dewsbury to hospital yesterday afternoon.
A spokesperson for the school said that the situation remained the same this morning.
A statement published on the school website yesterday said: “The air ambulance attended at school and the child is now in a serious condition in hospital.....
