It’s Not Just You: Why Asthma Symptoms Get Worse Around Your Period

Several years ago, I picked up on a pattern during which my asthma would get worse right before I started my period. At the time, when I was slightly lass savvy and plugged my questions into Google instead of academic databases, I couldn’t find any real information about this phenomenon. So, I reached out to friends with asthma. One of them told me to reach out to Dr. Sally Wenzel, a research doctor at The University of Pittsburgh, to see if she could point me in the right direction. To my relief, Dr. Wenzel noted that while many women do report having worsening asthma symptoms around their periods, there isn’t much research to confirm a connection or explain why.....

Asthma girl's parents call for unlawful death ruling after five-year-old died when her GP turned her away for being four minutes late to an appointment

A family is calling for an unlawful killing verdict at the inquest into a five-year-old girl who died after being turned away by her GP.
They claim that Dr Joanne Rowe was negligent by refusing to see Ellie-May Clark when she arrived at the GP surgery four minutes late for her appointment.
Ellie-May died of a sudden asthma attack five hours later, after being denied the steroids which could have saved her life, in a scandal revealed by The Mail on Sunday in February.....
