Catholic school board updating health policy on asthma
The Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board presented an updated health policy on asthma to trustees Tuesday aimed at making sure there’s never a repeat of the tragic death of 12-year-old Ryan Gibbons.
The Staffordville, Ont., boy died from an asthma attack in October 2012 when he couldn’t get access to his medication locked away in the principal’s office.....

Monroe Asthma Sufferers: Air Quality Alert Issued for Wednesday
MONROE, CT — An air quality alert has been issued for the area on Wednesday.
Air pollution levels of ground-level ozone and/or particles are predicted to be in the "unhealthy for sensitive groups."
"During the warm seasons, unhealthy ground-level ozone concentrations may cause a variety of respiratory problems including breathing difficulty, coughing, and throat irritation. In the cold season, particle pollution predominates," the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) said, continuing, "Health effects such as: aggravated asthma, chronic bronchitis, nonfatal heart attacks, and even pre-mature death in people with heart and lung disease; have also been linked with prolonged exposure of particles".....
