Asthma and allergy research network gets $15.6M

As asthma and allergies inexplicably rise, a Hamilton research network is getting $15.6 million to find out why and what to do about it.
The federal funding will keep the Allergy, Genes and Environment Network, also known as AllerGen, running at McMaster University until 2019.....

High Levels of Physical Activity May Worsen Asthma Control in Young Females

Among 526 adolescents and young adults who were asked about their exercise habits, those with asthma tended to report more physical activity than those without asthma. Compared with moderate physical activity, high physical activity levels were linked with poorer asthma control in females, but not in males.....

Exercising 30 minutes a day relieves asthma symptoms

For the study, published in BMJ Open Respiratory Research, researchers analyzed levels of physical activity in 643 participants diagnosed with asthma.
They found that participants who exercised the recommended amount on a regular basis were nearly 2.5 times more likely to have good control of their symptoms, compared with those who did no exercise.....
