Allergies are becoming more commonplace, particularly in industrialised coun-tries. In addition to hay fever, allergic asthma is currently considered to be one of the most widespread allergies. UFZ researchers and their colleagues from the University of Leipzig have recently been successful in finding a protein that plays a critical role in the development of allergic airway inflammation. Overhaul ventilation regulation or face Asthma epidemic
Poor indoor air quality could cause the number of asthma sufferers to rocket by 80 per cent if regulations are not tightened, a new report claims.
A new report highlights that current building regulations are not sufficient to tackle the impact of indoor air pollution on health, and predicts that without intervention the UK could see an 80 per cent increase in asthma sufferers over the next 35 years.....

Breathe deep: Parents can get free asthma screening for kids
For kids, asthma can be a chronic condition that disrupts class time, sleeping, homework and outdoor playing.
In an effort to get more Sacramento school children tested and help their families manage the condition, a mobile asthma screening clinic is opening Wednesday evening to serve up to 150 families on a first-come, first-serve basis. At the free event, families can receive the free screenings and talk to allergy specialists about inhalers and asthma symptoms.....
