Smart inhaler's beeps help Kiwi kids beat asthma attacks
A trial with 220 Auckland children has proved that a "smart inhaler" that beeps when its user forgets to puff from it can dramatically reduce asthma symptoms.
The device, developed by a New Zealand company, can be set to play animal sounds or songs at the times each day that children need to take a puff of preventive medication.....

For a long time, health officials thought the city, alone, caused more child asthma cases, but a new study indicates that race may be a bigger contributor.
“Our results highlight the changing face of pediatric asthma and suggest that living in an urban area is, by itself, not a risk factor for asthma,” comments lead investigator Dr. Corrine Keet. The pediatric allergy and asthma specialist continues, “Instead, we see that poverty and being African American or Puerto Rican are the most potent predictors of asthma risk.”.....
