Why Cold Air and Exercise Hurt Asthma

While arctic air blasts much of the country, people with asthma have a particular concern: asthma attacks.
Cold, dry air, as well as changes in the weather, can bring on an asthmatic episode, according to the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America. Exercise — a frequent asthma trigger — also becomes more perilous in the cold, the AAFA added, so those with the condition should take particular care during colder months, during any type of outdoor activity.....

Lots of things can trigger an asthma attack, but one of the most common causes is odor — anything from the heavy scent of perfume to a household cleaner.
Sondra Justice is a 60-year-old retired postal worker from Philadelphia, and for her, lots of odors are dangerous: aerosol cans, certain charcoals and cleaners, "even mixing bleach in water irritates my throat," she says.....
