Air Pollutants Up Asthma Risk in Obese Children

Asthma may be more likely to develop in obese young children in association with greater exposure to polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH), according to a new study that found obese children exposed to high levels of air pollutants were nearly 3 times as likely to have asthma as nonobese children.....

North Shore collaborative takes aim at asthma triggers

According to Massachusetts Department of Public Health, the prevalence of asthma in Massachusetts is among the highest in the nation. In 2007, about one in 10 people (9.9 percent of adults and 10.3 percent of children) were living with asthma, and these numbers are expected to grow. Currently, the disease burden is highest among adult females and male children, and people with disabilities or lower socioeconomic status are disproportionately affected.....
