Breastfeeding and asthma risk
A US study, at University of Arizona, Tucson, found that breastfed, atopic children with asthmatic mothers were at increased risk of asthma.
1,246 healthy babies, were recruited for the study. Outcome measures were duration of exclusive breastfeeding, a physician’s diagnosis of asthma, and questionnaires assessing the subject’s respiratory health, which were completed between the ages of two and 13 years.....

Reducing the risk of asthma and allergy in children
UK researchers have found that children at high risk of asthma and allergies benefit from living in a home which has been treated to remove irritants such as dust mites.
291 couples who suffered from allergies, and who were expecting a baby, were enrolled into a study. The couples were chosen because children with parents who have allergies are at increased risk of developing asthma or allergies themselves.....

Obesity linked to asthma
Washington, July 19 (ANI): Researchers including an Indian have found that genes linked to chronic inflammation in asthma could be more active in obese people.
First author Paresh Dandona, MD, PhD, SUNY Distinguished Professor and Chief of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at the University at Buffalo, said that his team findings point the way to the management of asthma in the obese through simple weight reduction......
