Young Children With Asthma Visit ER Most Often
New exploration from a College Hospitals Rainbow Toddlers & Kid’s Healthcare facility (UH Rainbow) analyze uncovered that young children ages 1 to 3 a long time accounted for 1-fifth of all unexpected emergency department (ED) visits triggered by issues from asthma, representing the highest proportion of visits amid bronchial asthma sufferers beneath age 21. In addition, 55 p.c of all ED visits thanks to bronchial asthma occurred in boys, and fall months — September, October and November — had a relatively large proportion of visits compared to other occasions of the year. The analysis was presented at the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) National Conference in Orlando.....

Vinyl flooring linked to asthma in children
Children who lived in homes with vinyl floors were more likely to develop asthma than children who lived in homes with other types of flooring, according to a new study conducted in Sweden. The association was strongest for children whose parents had vinyl flooring in their bedrooms during pregnancy. The scientists who conducted the research say that the association could be the result of phthalates, which are chemicals used to soften vinyl. Previous studies have reported links between phthalate exposure and breathing problems, including asthma and wheezing.....

A Small Number Of Parents Know How to Use Their Child's Asthma Medication, Study Finds
A new study finds that most parents who assist their children with inhaled asthma medications don't know all the proper instructions.
"Of the 10 steps for accurate technique, we were surprised to learn that only one out of 169 caregivers knew all 10 steps," said study author Dr. Marina Reznik, an assistant professor of pediatrics at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City.....
